This week I was thinking that Billy is what moves me so here are some “Billy” songs, What the heck is moving you?? Common and play!
First is an old song from my childhood, back in the 70′s Viet Nam struck a cord with most of the entertainment world and they all had a way of expressing them selves, here is Paper Lace 1974- Billy Don’t be a Hero!
Next one of my favorite songs by Bobbie Gentry they made a movie about this one – Ode to Billy Joe 1968
And of course when I hear Billy I think Joel so lets a little “We didn’t start the Fire” Awesome!

All songs are new to me except for Billy Joel. Thanks for sharing these songs, and reminding me of “We didn’t start the fire”. I haven’t heard the song in ages.

I remember “Billy, Don’t Be a Hero”! My sisters and I used to sing that song all the time back in the day, LOL! Love the other Billy songs, too. Actually, the one by Billy Joel is one that I used as a writing assignment for my freshmen students because most of them had no clue who the people, places, or events mentioned in it were. They had to research four of them and discuss what made them important enough for Billy Joel to include them in a social protest song. I loved that assignment! My post is up and ready. I hadn’t heard of the first two songs, but of course I’ve heard of the Billy Joel song. However, I missed why Billy songs were moving you this week. Any particular Bill on your mind lately?
Makes me think of that old song by the Fifth Dimension “Won’t you marry me Bill?? I’ve got the wedding bell blues.”

I used to have Billy Don’t be a hero on 45….LOVE that song!!! Actually, I LOVE all three of these songs and haven’t heard any of them in a while.
I had Ode to Billy Joe on 45, now the young people of today would say “on a 45?” They miss out on so much!
